Some students nowadays do not enjoy writing for several reasons, such as they have not developed their own learning style due to the fact that they do not read consistently. Consequently, they do not have the vocabulary, grammar, and ideas that allow them to write a determinate number of words. The ice-breaking activity consists of setting a time limit between ten and fifteen minutes and asking the students to write without stopping until the timer goes off. They can write about any topic or write a story, article, letter, or reflection. They will not be worried about writing perfectly; the goal is to write as much as possible.

Notebook to Write Down Ideas💡

Skill: Writing 

There are times when students do not have any idea what to write. It could be for several reasons; the teacher is asking for something original, they have to write with a determinate number of words, what makes them stressed, they don't have enough vocabulary, they don't want to do it, or they have a mental block. In order to have ideas for writing projects it would be a great idea to suggest that students take a notebook with them at all times.  The idea is that any time an idea comes to them, they should jot it down. Some students will prefer to use their cell phones or tablets. In this case, the teacher can suggest working on a Word document they have synchronized with the emails or the applications NOTES, GOOGLE KEEP,  or MICROSOFT ONE NOTE. There are plenty of them.

Class Environment 💡

Skill: Reading and Writing 

When working on creative writing as a tool for teaching English to ESL students, one of the aspects that must be considered is the environment. A regular class has posters and class rules, and a creative classroom is not an exception. There are other aspects that, if they are worked, can help the creative process, such as playing aromatizers or music with sounds of nature; in this way, the brain relaxes and allows ideas to flow easily to proceed with the activities programmed for class development.

Making Time to Write ✍️

Skill: Writing 

The class has different moments, and many activities are planned to help the students accomplish their goals, objectives, and standards which are created by the state. These make teachers focus on other assignments and rarely give language learners enough time for working on writing task. A teacher who works on creative writing as a tool for teaching English must not miss this aspect. Setting aside time to write in class is essential, and it should happen every day; such as ten minutes to write about anything. Some students will probably write a story, even a novel, through multiple sections during the week or just things that make no sense that they will throw away in the wastebasket. Still, they will be improving their language skills.
